1630 Laparoscopic Repair of Linea Arcuata Hernia Presenting as Generalised Abdominal Pain - a Case Report

Abstract Background Arcuate line hernia (LAH) is an abnormal ascending herniation of intraperitoneal structures over the linea arcuate, between rectus abdominus muscle and posterior layer its sheath. It a rare clinical entity often associated with non-specific abdominal pain, posing significant diagnostic challenge. The true prevalence unknown, diagnosis almost always radiological. Case Report We report case 57-year-old lady investigated extensively for frequent episodes generalised pain. No palpable hernial defect or other pathology was identified on examination. Subsequent computed tomography(CT) abdomen pelvis revealed 95 x 74 mm arcuate hernia(LAH) anterior to transversalis fascia, containing small bowel loops. She underwent elective laparoscopic repair involving closure 2-0 knotless barbed sutures reinforcement 20 15 cm underlay mesh. Postoperative recovery uneventful, complete resolution her symptoms. One year after there were no signs recurrence. Discussion To our knowledge, only eleven prior cases symptomatic LAH have been reported in literature. There conclusive evidence regarding most appropriate imaging, treatment approach follow up regimen. Clinical difficult.
